Yahoo! We're Home!

Whew, what a whirlwind two days...well, technically one, since we gain a day back returning home from China! We left on Tuesday evening around 9pm and arrived at LAX on Tuesday evening around 7pm. It was a LONG 13 hour flight plus a few more hours of immigration and customs check-in and out. We spent the night at the Marriott thinking we'd get a good night's sleep, wake up late and catch an early afternoon flight back to Portland. Yeah, right....we barely slept and everyone was wide awake at 3:30am. By 4:30am we decided we'd try to catch an earlier flight back home. Talk about a mad dash to the airport....the 7:15am flight was wide open if we could get there on time. No problem, we thought, forgetting this was LAX not John Wayne Airport!

While the hotel shuttle pulled up to the terminal, we realized we may be kidding ourselves. The security lines were backed up all along the outside of the terminal. After checking in our bags, someone said there was a security breach and the place was shut down temporarily. Luckily, they reopened shortly after that and we made it on the first flight back to Portland.

I'm already back to reality....school registration, picking up piles of mail and getting some frozen dinners and pizza, along with baby food to hold us up til I really recover. Anybody have tips to deal with jet lag and a new 11 month old baby?????

Erin is doing great and she is blossoming. At 11 months of age, she was not able to sit, crawl or barely grab things. In just 2 1/2 weeks, we've seen such tremendous changes. I'm guessing she'll be crawling within a week (yikes!), and is now eating solid foods vs. only formula when we got her. She's got a temper and isn't afraid to holler when we wants something! But, she is a happy baby and has especially been smiling a lot since we got home. I think she knows she's home.

As much as it was a wonderful experience and we've made some great new friends....we are so happy to be home!

Thank you to all for your loving thoughts and prayers!

This picture of Erin is about par for the course for everyone but me! It's 9:30am on Thursday in China and our body clocks are still on China time.

Welcome home and congratulations.
We look forward to seeing you, but only when you are ready.
Good luck with the jetlag.

So glad you made it back home! The way we got everyone back on schedule, and changed Kieren to ours, was to jump right back into the swing of things. (We returned on Dec. 21st and still had to get the tree up and wrap gifts and do all the church things!) Get Erin out in the sun as much as you can to change her "clock"! Also we napped in shifts. My mom came over during the day for a couple of days to help us, but Kieren would have NOTHING to do with her. She prefers men (except where I'm concerned). Get some rest and then we want to hear everything!!
