Yesterday we went to the Street of Dreams which is an annual show of custom homes by premier builders in Oregon. Wow! Stunning homes from 5,000 to 8,000 square feet on incredible properties from 2 to 4 acres backing to wooded areas or a creek. The houses ranged from $2.1 million to $3.9 million. Even though I can't believe how insane the prices are, its still a bargain compared to California!

Relative to these back yards, ours will feel like Irvine at 11,700 square feet vs. 5 acres!!! But there's a price to pay, and not just monetarily. Yes, you get a lot of privacy, but these are definitely not homes to raise kids in -- not exactly a street to play with your neighbors! Plus for me, if I can't reach a mall or other conveniences within 5 - 10 minutes, its too remote! Our builder was afraid we'd come back and say "Stop! Hold the project! We have some changes!" Nah! But it was fun seeing these beautiful homes and getting decorating ideas!
